Star Sailors Combat Guide

Star Sailors uses a turn-based combat system with no Speed stat — you choose action order freely. Understanding SP, Overdrive, Burst Chance, Break, and Chain Bonus is essential for clearing difficult content. This guide explains every combat mechanic and control.

Basic Combat Flow and Controls

Combat is touch-based on mobile. Tap a character to view their skills, select a skill, tap an enemy target, then confirm the action. There are no directional movement controls — positioning is automatic based on team formation.

Each battle turn, your team acts first, then enemies respond. You decide who attacks when and which skills to use. There is no auto-speed system — tactical planning replaces speed-based turn order found in other RPGs.

Skill Points (SP) System

Every basic attack generates SP for the attacking character (up to 12 SP per hero). Skills consume SP rather than using cooldowns. Basic skills restore 1-2 SP, while advanced skills cost more. Only Ultimate abilities have limited uses per battle.

Manage SP carefully — wasting it on basic attacks when you could save for a powerful skill loses efficiency. Plan your turn order to maximize SP generation before spending on high-cost abilities.

Overdrive and Chain Attacks

Using skills fills the Overdrive bar. When full, activate Overdrive to grant 12 SP to every team member, enabling Ultimate Skills and Break Skills. During Overdrive, chain attacks between teammates deal significantly increased damage.

Overdrive is most impactful against bosses who survive long enough for the bar to fill. Normal enemies often die before Overdrive activates. Build teams with Partners whose chain attacks synergize — matching elements and roles creates devastating combo sequences.

Burst Chance QTE

Burst Chance triggers quick-time events during specific battle moments. When you chain attacks and role skills correctly, tap prompts appear on screen. Successfully timing these taps boosts damage and enables flashy finisher animations.

Missing Burst Chance prompts means losing bonus damage but does not fail the battle. Manual play with good QTE timing significantly improves performance in hard content compared to auto-battle.

Break and Chain Bonus

Enemies have shields that can be broken. Breaking a shield delays the enemy turn, increases damage they receive, and triggers a special Adventurer ability automatically. Focus Break skills on shielded targets.

Chain Bonus rewards attacking with elemental advantage. Fire beats Earth, Earth beats Water, Water beats Fire. Light and Dark counter each other. Hitting weaknesses increases immediate damage and boosts subsequent attack damage in the chain.
